Overview

Scripps Health, in collaboration with UC San Diego, presents IBD Cutting Edge 2026. This conference will showcase pioneering advancements in translational science, drug discovery, and clinical care for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The program will highlight the evolving landscape of clinical trials, innovative therapeutic strategies, and the complexities of managing IBD in diverse patient groups. Key topics will cover disease-specific complications, care considerations for special populations, the role of surgery in IBD management, and the integration of multidisciplinary approaches to enhance treatment outcomes.

Additionally, the conference will introduce emerging technologies, patient-centered care initiatives, and discussions on ensuring equity in access to care. Attendees will benefit from lectures and interactive sessions led by both international and national key opinion leaders in IBD. The comprehensive program will provide health care professionals with actionable insights to optimize patient care, advance clinical practices, and improve the quality of life for those living with IBD.

NEW THIS YEAR! An engaging hands-on Intestinal Ultrasound Workshop will be offered on Friday as a complement to the main conference. This immersive workshop will offer a unique opportunity to learn and refine ultrasound techniques for assessing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) under the guidance of world-renowned experts. Gain practical skills in utilizing this non-invasive, real-time imaging modality to enhance diagnosis, monitor disease activity, and optimize patient care. Whether you're a beginner or looking to advance your expertise, this workshop is designed to elevate your clinical practice and keep you at the cutting edge of IBD management.

Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Explore Translational Science: Describe how emerging insights from translational research are shaping novel therapeutic approaches for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
  2. Analyze Clinical Trial Innovations: Evaluate findings from recent and ongoing clinical trials to inform the development and application of next-generation therapies for IBD.
  3. Integrate Multidisciplinary Care Strategies: Identify opportunities to optimize patient outcomes through collaborative care models involving gastroenterologists, surgeons, dietitians, psychologists, and other specialists.
  4. Implement Advanced Surgical and Medical Approaches: Assess the latest advancements in surgical interventions and medical therapies, including their roles in treating complex IBD cases.
  5. Address Challenges in Special Populations: Examine the unique treatment considerations for pediatric, adolescent, and high-risk IBD populations, ensuring equitable and personalized care.
  6. Foster Patient-Centered Care: Develop approaches that emphasize shared decision-making and improved quality of life for patients living with IBD.

Mitigation of Relevant Financial Relationships

Disclosure of Relevant Financial Relationships and Content Validity

It is policy at Scripps Health’s Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) for course directors, planners, moderators, faculty, and all others in a position to control content of an educational activity disclose all financial relationships with ineligible companies that they may have had within the past 24 months. This policy is in accordance with the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. An ineligible company is any entity whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients. If an individual refuses to disclose financial relationships, they will be disqualified from being a part of the planning and implementation of the activity. Owners and/or employees of an ineligible company with business lines or products relating to the content of the activity will not be permitted to participate in the planning or execution of any accredited program.

The intent of this policy is to ensure that Scripps Health CME/CE certified activities promote quality and safety, are effective in improving medical practice, consist of valid, evidence-based content, and are independent of control from ineligible companies and free of commercial bias. Peer review of all content was conducted for all faculty presentations whose disclosure information was found to contain any financial relationships. This process consisted of reviewing the content, determining which financial relationships were relevant, and applying appropriate mitigation strategies. All listed relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies for individuals in control of content have been mitigated prior to the commencement of the activity.

The staff in Scripps Health’s Office of Continuing Medical Education have disclosed that they have no financial relationships with any ineligible companies. Any peer reviewer who is determined to have a relevant financial relationship must recuse themselves from the peer review process.
